Known as The Cornhusker State, Nebraska is part of the Midwest and the Great Plains regions. Its name comes from an old Native American term that means flat water, which refers to the Platte River that runs across the state. Nebraska was home to many Native American tribes before Europeans arrived and became the 37th state after joining the US on March 1, 1867. It ranks at number 16 on the list of the nation’s largest states and appears at number 37 on a list of the most populous states in the country. The largest cities in Nebraska include Omaha, Council Bluffs, Lincoln and Sioux City.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has an online search for inmates. This search is available for most people but not those outside of the country.
Step 1: Visit the Inmate Information Locator page of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services website.
Step 2: Enter both the first and last names of the inmate or just the individual’s last name. You can also use the person’s DCS number if you have it.
Step 3: Look over the names that you see to track down the right person. You see their date of birth, race, status, full name and status, which tells you if the individual is still in custody. Those in custody also have their holding facilities listed.
Step 4: Click on the inmate’s name to view their record in Nebraska. Though you won’t see any photos, you will see the sentence of the person and their first possible release date.
Nebraska also put its sex offender registry online to help you find offenders in custody and released.
Step 1: Visit the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.
Step 2: Type the last name of the offender in the box and add the first name if you want. You can also click a box to narrow down the results to only offenders who have an exact match to that name.
Step 3: View all of the offenders who match your search criteria. You can see the type of offender and a photo. Nebraska also puts the offenders on a map that allows you to find those near your home.
Step 4: Click on one of the names that you see to view the individual’s sex crime convictions. This tells you all of the crimes that they committed and when the crimes occurred. You can also view any vehicles they have and schools they attend along with a home address.
